Northern Town

Went over to see my dad today. Despite his reservations we popped into Prescot, a town with an illustrious history of watchmaking (but not any more) and cable making (but not any more).

What it has got is a nice old high street that, despite suffering as all small towns have during the recession, still seems to have some independent shops, including some decent butchers.

Its also got a really nice, quirky, independent coffee shop with pleasant staff who are a credit to the place. Top that all off with a proper fish supper and all in all a good day.
