Wine,Women & Song

It began with the cobbler

I have a beautiful pair of shoes, given to me by Rich, that seem to fit, but don't seem to stay on very well. After a few failed attempts to remedy the situation, we paid a visit to the local cobbler (in Everett) who immediately knew what to do. A big thank you to Mike! The fine craft of meticulous, careful shoe repair and adjustments is quickly becoming a lost art in our throw-away society.

Later that evening, we celebrated the lovely Marcia's birthday on this first day of the Year of the Horse. After a quick bowl of bipimbop and some bool gogi, we met some other friends at the elegant Fireside Lounge in Seattle's classic Sorrento Hotel where Nikki Dee and the Blue Hawaiians were serenading the crowd.

For a final nightcap, we headed over to the Pink Door - my new fave spot. I cannot believe I've never come here before, but I must come here again, and soon. The lighting was warm and relaxing, as was the overall atmosphere and onstage tonight in the lounge were Miles and Karina, performing some very refreshing and engaging "avant-garde-electro acoustic" tunes with energy and panache. Each new song conjured up the excitement and anticipation one feels when opening up a gift. And during the break, Miles came over to our table and chatted for a bit, and that's when we learned that he knows both Chad P. and Flip B. of Bellingham! Miles and Karina have plans for a Bellingham gig in the near future. When they arrive, I'll be there.
