Scattering the Ashes

To day we went over to Pigeon Bay for Aunty Nancy's scattering the ashes ceremony. As you can see we didn't have the best of weather but is wasn't cold. She had a good live and live to just about 104. I do miss her and all the story's she had to tell. Very interesting lady with lots of knowable.

We had a toast to Aunty Nancy with some glasses from her flat and then we went down to the old school which was closed in 2006. Aunty Nancy was the longest serving teacher there.. and also was my brothers teacher for a while. We had a good talk and told story's about her and scattered some more ashes. Then walked down to the waters edge and scattered some more so they could be carried away with the tilde. Then we had afternoon tea with a lady that lives in the bay. A great way to celebrate a wonderful life.

Pigeon Bay is on the Banks Peninsula and about hours drive from Christchurch. My family came from Pigeon Bay and in this cemetery I have many relations. Knox being one of them. The earthquakes damaged the head stones badly and some have been removed which is sad. My mum and dad's along with my Grandmother and father headstones is still OK.
