Notebook
My mother cared for my father for 18 years while he was disabled -- almost completely. It was not long after Dad died that Mom began to lose her vision -- macular degeneration. She's in her early 70s now and she's beginning to develop additional infirmities. I think she just got worn out, frankly -- used up.
It's come to this now: I have a little notebook that I began using this week to record little things that we notice and are concerned about. (I've had something to write in the notebook 5 of the last 6 days.)
I've told Mom that I'm keeping notes and that I'm committed to include her fully in the conversation -- no one will talk about her behind her back. I've made that promise.
It may be coming time to care for the carer, I'm afraid.
On the lighter side ... the notebook idea seems like a good one. I've warned my wife, my sister, and my brother that I'm going to begin notebooks with their names on the covers next week!
