Cedar stump

When we were building our home about 22 years ago, I insisted that the small cedar tree that was quite close to the side of the house be left where it was. Over the years it grew into a huge tree and was dangerously close in the high winds that we get. If it ever came down, it could destroy the house. I was devastated when G decided it was time to cut it, but I understood why. This morning, the sun was shining on the stump, showing all its lovely colours and textures. It's surrounded by daffodils which are just barely starting to poke through the ground.
Much as I love seeing the sun, I'm really hoping that we get some heavy rains soon. Our rainfall is far below seasonal averages, the snow pack isn't nearly what it should be, and the reservoirs should be full by now. The cedar trees, and other trees, could be seriously affected if we don't.
Here's a shot of the sun shining through one of the big cedars in front of our home, if you're interested in having a look. Great shadows this morning. There was frost on the ground too.

Please have a look at this stunning shot of Vancouver in the fog that made the Staff Picks of the Week. Wonderful to see a fellow BC blipper make the picks!
