A very special Christmas

I was up early to get to the hospital for Ruthie's 6am feed. No other parents were there at that time. Each cot/incubator had a beautifully wrapped Christmas present on their table at the foot of the beds (from Santa), along with a hand knitted tiny Santa hat.

It was such a special moment for me to be there alone with my tiny new baby on Christmas morning.
The nurses made me tea, and I opened up Ruthie's present from Santa. Inside were the following items - a cardigan, hat, blanket and dolly, all hand knitted (see picture, dolly is in the cot with her), and a bib.
It was completely above and beyond for the neonatal unit to do something so thoughtful and special for all the tiny babies unable to spend Christmas with their families.

After, I headed to the cock and bell just in time for the traditional Christmas fry up, followed by lots of present opening. Isobel really enjoyed it all. We had Christmas dinner around 4.30pm, so that me, Rikki and Isobel could head to the hospital for Ruthie's 6pm feed. Then it was home to recharge ready for more trips too and fro to the hospital.

The only regret I have is that I forgot to get a photo of all 4 of us together on Christmas Day
