Scarborough RNLI’s two lifeboats were stood down during the search for a missing angler off Burniston cliffs.
The all-weather lifeboat launched at 5.44am following a call from the Humber coastguard. The inshore lifeboat was launched at 7.30am.
The search was concentrated on the cliffs, shoreline and sea at Hundale Point and Cloughton Wyke, just north of Scarborough.
The missing man’s two dogs were found on the cliffs and recovered.
Three teams of coastguards, from Burniston, Scarborough and Ravenscar, Scarborough & Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team and a Sea King helicopter from RAF Boulmer were also involved in the search.
Lifeboat operations manager John Senior said: “Both boats have been stood down and prepared for further service.”
The crew of the all-weather lifeboat were Tom Clark, Dave Horsley, Dave Jackson, George Whitlow, Steve Bramham and Will Cammish.
The crew of the inshore lifeboat were Paul Huggins, Sam Baker and Matt Markes.
The shore crew were John Senior, John Ritchie, John Evans, Nick Herrington and Billy McSweeney.
