ORANGES AND LEMONS

I saw these oranges and lemons in a little deli shop in Old Town today and was drawn to them because you don't often see them WITH the leaves. They reminded me of the nursery rhyme and game we used to play at parties when I was a little girl.

I don't think I have ever known the real meaning of the rhyme, so Googled it, as you do - and if you are interested, you will see the various London churches it refers to here.

Oranges and lemons,
Say the bells of St. Clement's.
You owe me five farthings,
Say the bells of St. Martin's.
When will you pay me?
Say the bells of Old Bailey.
When I grow rich,
Say the bells of Shoreditch.
When will that be?
Say the bells of Stepney.
I do not know,
Says the Great bell of Bow.
Here comes a candle to light you to bed,
And here comes a chopper to chop off your head!
Chip, chop, chip, chop,
The last man's dead!

Enjoy your weekend and I hope we all see some sunshine - wouldn't that be good? I am going to Oxford for a Blipmeet tomorrow to meet BusyLife and her two lovely children and am really looking forward to that.

Thank you for all your kind comments and stars on my blips - as you know, at the moment, I'm not commenting much, although Siri, on my iPhone, is helping out a little - it may be an Old Wives' tale that cold and wet affects joints, but this weather is certainly affecting my thumbs still.
