There has apparently been a big increase in ticks in Scotland recently and some doctors are getting very concerned about Lyme disease. I spent most of last summer suffering from really heavy antibiotics for a fairly small red swelling but my friend in South Uist who had large "bulls eye" rings on her leg was sent home and told if she was able to walk into the surgery there was no problem.
