Cloud Gate

Known by a number of different names, officially this piece of public artwork is the 'Cloud Gate'. Finished work early today, so I took a slight detour on the way back to the hotel to visit Millenium Park. Still damn cold at this point, so I didn't want to hang about for too long - but got dragged into taking photos for three separate groups who wanted to commit to pixels their visit to this fine monument.

When I saw this in Source Code I assumed it was a parabolic dish rather than a bean shape. You don't get the full effect when it is covered in snow and ice, but in the summer the reflection of the nearby scrscapers is most impressive.

Chicago Institute of Art is just down the road from here - great place to visit if you get chance....
