Burrator Reservoir
Well, I got my walk on the moor in today. I went into Plymouth to get my hair cut, then went to the bank, and finally drove out to Burrator Reservoir and walked up on to the moor. I walked up to Crazy Well Pool, which is a small lake in the middle of nowhere, set down in a dip, with very steep sides.
It was quite a strenuous walk, and a long way back. My prize for walking all this way was very stiff knees for the rest of the day and evening. And some nice photos, of course. As you can see from the blip, it was cloudy and dull. The only bit of brightness was the swirl of cloud on the left of the picture. That stayed in that position for the whole afternoon and did not get any brighter.
You can just make out the reservoir in the distance. I parked my car at this end of it. I still had some way to go to Crazy Well Pool at this point, so it gives you some idea of how far I walked.
On the way back, I bumped into a party of teenagers on some sort of moor awareness course - they were carrying a hapless member of staff back to the car park on a stretcher. He may not have been injured when he got onto the stretcher, but by the time they got him back to the car park, they'd dropped him several times. Fortunately, he took it in good part, but some of the other members of staff gave me long suffering looks as they went past.
