Guardians
On a bleak, soulless day
They stand side by side
And watchful.
Their abandoned winter purpose
As guardian
Over the beach
The seasonal waders
The dogs and their walkers,
With an eye on the sea beyond.
Despite the drizzle, I snatched a few moments this morning at Tankerton and enjoyed the gulls, the oyster catchers and what I think was a spotted redshank, along with Molly the labbie who was fascinated by my camera and refused to respond to her walker's calls. Glued to the desk all day since - and I think it might be a very late nighter.
