Bad Hair Day
'A bad hair day ruins my whole entire day and mood.' Unknown
I know it makes me seem incredibly trivial but I'm a bit hair obsessed! As a teenager, when all the cool girls had dead straight, fine, long hair I had a thick head which was neither curly nor straight, but which if left to dry naturally, (my only option as we didn't own a hair dryer), had quite a few kinks. Moreover I mostly chopped at it myself and indulged in a few dry shampoos - talcum like products which left my mousy hair looking ever so slighty greyish. I remember my first modern cut at Thomas Civita in Glasgow - it was heaven and I emerged with a swinging, shiny bob - and confidence!
My own four children had to put up with having their hair washed and blown dried every morning. I was determined to spare them the traumas I had gone through but as the poem goes, 'They f---- you up, your Mum and Dad', I probably created my own demons for them. And now with hair straighteners, I'm in my element.
Last night we had a marathon television catch-up watching 'The Bridge'. In the first series they had a female detective who was a bit quirky and who one suspected had Aspergers. This time she seems to have materialised as absolutely bonkers - but every time I see her I keep thinking how much better she'd look if she straightened her hair!
Exercise class in Ellon this morning then lunch with Anita and catch-up on gossip. She's planning her next big trip, to the Galapagos. Wish I could get over my fear of flying - my husband is just far too understanding!
