Field of Light(s)
Edinburgh seems to have some interesting light-based art installations on at the moment. In the old quad of Edinburgh Uni there are the Chinese lanterns based on the terracotta army that I have seen several blips of already. And here, in St Andrew Square, they are still arranging a piece by the artist Bruce Munro called Field of Light. The piece apparently will include 9,500 lighted glass spheres and will be switched on on February 3rd.
It will be there for a couple of months so hopefully I will get back there to see it in all its glory. It will be free to wander through and is being paid for by the City of Edinburgh Council with support from Marketing Edinburgh and Essential Edinburgh. So watch out for spectacular visitor numbers when they count all the people just going through the square as visiting the art, even although they are just walking through, just like they did with the Christmas attractions.
