Confusion Rained
Out with the kids first thing this morning to get and deliver birthday cards and I was getting some strange results on the camera.
The size of the metering area is different from my last camera and I haven't reset it .......... it must have been that.
This afternoon while the Cygnet was at nursery SWMBO and I had dentist appointments so squirrel came with us.
Again I started getting really weird pictures - using the exposure compensation was (sometimes) making it even worse although some came out fine ......... like the light (taken for a challenge elsewhere entitled 'White') and the of squirrel with a magazine.
Things got even worse back at the house in the mixed lighting.
SWMBO was insisting I pack the camera up and send it back to the manufacturers.
I knew it had to be operator error somewhere along the line.
After loads of test shots all taken of the same label on a box using various exposure compensation settings and putting my glasses on I worked out what it was................
At some point the bracketing button had been switched on!
Idiot!!!!!!
So, with that problem sorted I headed off to the camera club where it was appraisal night (not a competition I am assured ............... right!!!).
The subject was "Abstract".
The appraiser (not judge ............ joke) seeming to be at a bit of a loss over what an 'abstract' should be.
For him the title had to explain the picture, it had to have meaning and depth and tell a story. He also had to know what the picture was of and how it was taken.
Without these things all coming together for him it got rubbished.
No wonder people are reluctant to enter competitions (and appraisals).
