Shelter from the cold

Along the trail we walked today, there is an old owl box. Some time ago we noticed it had been pretty well torn apart. By what, I have no idea, but since then the box has been empty. Today this screech owl was sheltering the best it could in what was left of the box. Serendipity (for the owl and the blipper both). Very cold again today, but it warmed up to 18 degrees this afternoon when the sun was actually shining. The wind chill temperature was only 2 degrees F, however, so it was a short walk. I posted a few more pictures here. A warm up is predicted for the next two days...almost up to the freezing point (32 F). It will seem like a heat wave.
