A Quiet Foggy Morning

It's a foggy day in West LA. Here in Playa Vista, a neighbor of both Marina Del Rey and LAX, it is so foggy we can see just across the street and no farther.

Some people find fog eery. I find it exquisite. It lends a unique shadow and stillness to the city.

The fog has created a beautiful silence. LAX is closed, planes are being diverted and flights out have been postponed.

We don't get horrendous airport noise, but when it stops, after several moments we will look at each other and observe, "hum, no planes, is Obama in town?" LOL.

When I can't sleep I will sit on the patio and watch the lights of the planes as they circle, awaiting their turn to land. When it is their turn, you can hear the engines increase power to prepare to land.

It's oddly peaceful. At 2:00 AM there is no auto traffic, so that prodigious whooshing sound along with the flashing lights circling the diminutive town of Playa Vista and our neighbors is almost dystopian.
