Don Giovanni

A magical dress rehearsal at Covent Garden.

I adore the music but I've seen a few less than brilliant productions in recent years. This was probably the best I've ever seen.

The staging was innovative and technically brilliant. Coloured images were projected so effectively on to the plain, stark backdrop.

Mariusz Kwiecien was the sexy and charismatic Don. Looks and a baritone voice to die for. Italian Alex Esposito was wonderful as Leporello.

Elizabeth Watts (Zerlina) and Donna Anna's wimpy boyfriend Don Ottavio were superb too.

Tickets for a fiver. But this one would be unmissable at full price.
