It's irritating how easy it is to clean a rear mech when it's sitting disassembled on a carrier bag on your lap compared to when there's a chain getting in the way. Conversely, a chain is slightly easier to 'clean' when still attached as it stays where it is without threatening to evade grip and festoon the surroundings with goop. Didn't have time for the chain this evening so it's in the pannier to be potentially done tomorrow lunchtime.
