Ladybank 396

Do people still have phone voices? I imagine an old dear in a twin set answering this phone in her best posh phone voice "Ladybank 3 9 6" I also wonder where ladybank is/was a place or an exchange. I like the way phones were answered in old movies...I've always wanted to pick up a phone and say Plaza 242...I suppose a bit of me wants to be Doris Day for the day.
