The balmy palmy west!
This is a nice specimen of Trachycarpus fortunei, the Chusan Palm from the mountains of central and southern China, growing outside my house. It was given to me as a seedling in a 5" pot and I brought it with me 21 years ago as a young plant. Pretty hardy in most of Britain, it particularly enjoys the west side of the country as it's a palm which enjoys winters that are not too cold and summers that are not too hot - sounds about right!
