House guest

This is Derek, he has featured on my blip before. I wont bother going into his background and how he came by the name as that's all on the previous blip of him. Anyway, his owners are both away this week so, since he used to be our cat and is comfortable with us, we are looking after him. Maddy certainly isn't as manic with him as she used to be which is good.

He's been quite a pleasant house guest, he's certainly calmer and more subdued than when he was younger but then he is almost twelve now. It's great to have him out staying. He's been getting brave this week, he's never really been an outdoors-y cat but has ventured into the back garden quite a few times. Since hissing at Snowball the first time he saw him he's been in complete denial as to his existence. That's probably a good thing, even though Snowball is only a rabbit Derek is a big fluffy wuss and snowball would probably have him.

I should probably point out that he doesn't always look quite this relaxed but that thing between his paws is the remnants of a valerian tea bag which Maddy gave him so I think he may have been a bit spaced out. If you have cats try them on it, they go mad for it but unlike catnip which tends to make them hyper valerian just seems to make them really mellow.

Cause for celebration today too as I finished all my marking and got all my paperwork handed in. Wayhey!
