Big Burn...
Saturday in Dumfries. Lovely meeting with the Stove followed by lovely lunch with the Stove. Abysmal weather led to much worrying that the Big Burns Supper big event would have to be called off, like last year.
Then, miraculously, the rain eased off in time for the Homecoming Parade. Truly amazing - 1000 lanterns, thousands of participants & spectators in the centre of Dumfries on Burns night. Absolutely brilliant. However, although I seem to have taken hundreds of pictures of the parade - they don't do it justice. The lovely Mr Tennant has got the parade (and the rest of the festival) covered.
My blip is part of the Stove's Big Burn - not the big burn-y bonfire but one of the logs which surrounded it. (If anyone can make experimental/accidental art from logs, a chainsaw & flame, it's probably the Stovies.) An awesome night of awesomeness which will hopefully be repeated next year. In fact - all outdoor events in Scotland should have bonfires and accompanying log-heater-art things. Also marshmallows, baked tatties etc. And drop-in choirs, mysterious street theatre performances and friendly locals.
Burns songs, round a fire, in the centre of Dumfries on Burns night. Ace.
