With mountains like these

Haircut 100

A huge thankyou for all your visits and lovely comments yesterday. We had a meal out in the port, so I had to stop bouncing my balloon about, but it was great fun while it lasted.

My personal celebration today (why stop?!) for yesterday was a haircut with my new friend Bea. It was a beautiful but chilly morning, so I was a bit cat-like seeking warm spots in the market and the square. It takes some time for the sun to rise over the mountains in the mornings now. Some parts of town don't get light until nearly midday. It reminds of a town in Italy where they installed a huge mirror on a mountain top to reflect light down into the valley.

This is San Bartolomeu right in the centre of Soller. The architect was Joan Rubió (a disciple of Gaudi), who also designed the adjacent bank. Both are prominent features of Es Firó in May when the invaders scale the walls, steal everything and kidnap the priest.

Joan Rubió = John Blond. Anyone want to play the translation game? You know, Giuseppe Verdi = Joe Green etc

Have a great day everyone :)
