The Finishing Post

Because of rearranged classes, I unexpectedly had a free evening the first Wednesday in Hong Kong and was able to go the evening horse racing in Happy Valley

We went with Splendid Tours who organise transport and a meal in the Jockey Club function room (8th floor) as part of the deal. There's a very good buffet and unlimited beer or wine. The room has betting counters too so you can place bets and collect winnings, if you are lucky. After the 4th race we were taken down to the ground level to see the horses for the 5th race in the parade ring, then when they moved off to the starting gates we were taken across the parade ring to stand right by the finishing post. I got rather excited and didn't keep the camera steady so everything is blurred - but I think this one really shows how fast they were moving. They are BIG horses! After the 5th race and winner's parade we went back up for more drinks and desserts.
