Hallowe'en approaches

Same tree as yesterday -- in case it looked vaguely familiar to you.

I remember when I was young...Hallowe'en was one of the great days of the year. All the children began planning weeks ahead of time. There were parties at school, of course. And I remember how excited we all were on our ways home from school. We didn't touch our dinner, so anxious we were to get into our cowboy or hobo or Frankenstein or princess or vampire costumes for an evening of trick-or-treating that seemed to go on for hours. The streets were full of children. Children took over the night for one night each year. Children as far as the eye could see. Acres and acres of children! There must have been hundreds in every direction.

At least that my recollection from this distance. Don't ruin it. I loved Hallowe'en night when I was a child. We all did. It was our time.
