Patriotic bird cake

I make a lot of cakes,which mostly taste and look quite good if I say so myself
Exception to the rule. Made this fruit cake in December for Christmas, forgot about it. Them had bright idea to ice it with a Scottish saltire for Burns night ceilidh. Disaster. The icing too thin, the fruit showed thru, the beautiful glittery saltire slipped... Not funny. Too embarrassed at losing my reputation left it behind
now the test. Will the birds eat it? Will it creat a new breed of glittery fat robins in my garden? Will one find the five pence I mixed in it? So exciting round these parts in January
