Hot Shoeing
This is Phil our blacksmith shoeing our old horse.
Phil has been a blacksmith all his working life and is the only blacksmith we have ever had. He favours the hot shoeing system as most of the land where we live is clay based and unless the shoes are a really good fit horses tend to loose them in the mud. Hot shoeing moulds the shoe and hoof together and makes a good fit. Also it prevents fungal infection in the hoof which is a real pain to treat and tends to reoccur as soon as it gets damp. Like now!
