Ben.

Not every character gets a chance to shine, and poor Ben really never found his niche in the strip. He's named after my best friend from grad school, Ben Couch, an amazing man who put up with a lot of my coming out at University of Arizona. In the college strip, Ben was assigned to Paisley Hall (the titular "Out House") for being a homophobe as a sort of education; mostly he was there for when I felt like being wildly homophobic and didn't want any of the other characters to say it. I think he made all of six appearances, every one of them ogling Vanna. My plan, had the strip survived, would have been to have him eventually end up sleeping with Zen during a night they both decided to see if they were gay. That would have been a really fun series of strips!
