The Track
This is Veterans MX Track right outside of Tupelo, MS. I thought that this would be an appropriate post because along with my desk in the Landscape Architecture building, this track is where I try and would like to spend the remainder of my time. I could talk about how it is a hobby of mine, but to stay on subject I see this track as an intricate design. One might think that anyone can just take a pile of dirt and a tractor to make a dirt jump. This is not true. If that were the case than I would not be paying to go to a track every weekend. My current and previous instructor in some of my LA classes would appreciate that these tracks are carefully built with the utmost importance in drainage. One can not ride if the track has standing water on it, and with each jump being in a rhythm with the next jump or berm, a careful design has to be put out. Maybe some would not understand it, but to me the layout of an exceptional track is an art just like any other design even if the purpose of this design is to basically be rutted to shreds and re built the next weekend. All in all, even with the bike and the track being a hobby of mine, I also see it relating to my major and want to design.
