Retirement

One of my colleagues retires today.

Officially it is not until Hogmanay but with accumulated days and leave etc. he finishes up today.

I don't think he is actually looking forward to it but he is just fed up with the politics in the workplace. I think that's just him being polite about it.

Mrs ATV made a card for him which I took round to his house.

He's taking us (the chosen ones) out for a meal on 12th November. Should be great.

On a different note, and in furtherance to yesterdays insolvency theme, today I noticed a local garage closed up shop recently.

It was a very long established business and it came out of the blue to the employees.

Unfortunately the bloke who owns it is actually a sole trader and it is not a limited company so his house and everything he owns is gone.

It is amazing how messed up this country really is. All these companies and jobs that are going, or have gone, can never be brought back.

The banks will just never lend the finance that would require companies to start up gain and no-one can afford to employ anyone else anymore.

It is such a sad state of affairs and I wonder how a government can realistically expect people not to vote for anyone else.
