Matty the Bush Turkey

Miss I has named this male bush turkey 'Matty'. He's built a nest in our neighbours backyard. For those non-Australians, the nest is that meter round, 50cm high pile of mulch that he's scratched from the surrounds. He tends to it every morning and afternoon. He keeps poking his beak in the centre to check the temperature. Eventually a female bush turkey (or few of them) will decide that nest workmanship is good enough to lay up to 50 eggs and he will keep tending the nest to keep the eggs warm. They will incubate for about 50 days and then there will be a bunch of babies. We'll be long gone by then...
