Back Home
The wee man was under the UV lights for a full twelve hours - from 3pm yesterday til 3am today. The doctors said that they had to wait twelve hours before taking some more blood to check his jaundice, and, provided they came back fine (and that everything else was ok), he should be able to get home today. The results came back fine, and although he had been jaundiced and therefore quite sleepy and not really eating much, he had only lost 250g from his birth-weight, and so we were given the all clear to get home.
It was 7pm before the nurse came to to the discharge stuff, so we already had the grandparents in for visiting whilst the nurse was walking us through everything we had to do. After making sure he was quite thoroughly secured into his car seat, we were out the ward, clipped into the car and off home with the grandparents in tow.
Once we were all settled in the house, my mum went out to their car and returned with a bottle of Veuve Clicquot to celebrate - it was finished surprisingly quickly between the six of us (although Debbie [quite understandably] hardly touched hers).
