How to play with candle wax

Everyone knows one of these, right? These people who unconsciously dip their finger into the liquid wax of a burning candle, watch admiringly how it firms up and becomes white, then crumble it, roll it between their fingers, and leave a complete mess on the table.

I have always been one of them and have always wondered if there was anyone in the world who wouldn't be fascinated by the features of candle wax. Even the ones who look a little freaked out when people start playing with their candles are probably just jealous because their good education forbids them from playing with them.
