A quiet afternoon at the pub...

Or it was until the Blue Mugs turned up, with their approximately 50 ukeleles, a bass and a drummer. The Ivanhoe was the sixth stop on their Australia Day tour (by rail) of mountains pubs. Suddenly the room was packed solid and we found ourselves crammed into a corner for the duration.
That's OK, I like ukeleles!

They played half a dozen or so songs and all had a jolly good time.
I'm told they were very good, but those who said so were listening from the other side of the room. All I could hear was the drums, which were really unnecessarily and painfully loud, especially from about a metre away. (No chance of moving!)

Oh yes, I could also hear the one uke that was six inches from my ear. He was quite good, anyway.

They're holding a ukelele festival in Katoomba in a fortnight. If you're thinking of going, stay as far away from the drummer as you can!
