the agony of winter

go out for a walk with the dog,
all is like this, dank,
dewy, dripping with that cold,
clingy winter wet.
but not to scared,
buck up! get a life,
look on the side of the living.
I am here, others are not,
those dead, a forgotten sorry lot.
