A Sunset Silhouette
I live in the Philippines and to be completely honest, it's not very pretty. There are slums and squatter areas living alongside magnificent skyscrapers. It is extreme polarities living in one and the same city, and that's what I chose to depict in my photograph. In the day, the differences of Metro Manila are obvious and stark but at night, when the sun sets and shadows close in, it is all encompassed in darkness and suddenly, the difference only lies in the shadows--they don't seem so obvious in the dark. I don't have a lot of money to travel and I know that other people are taking pictures of incredibly magnificent views of oceans and New York-esque skylines but this is the best I could do, and I'm proud.
