Halfway down the stairs

Halfway down the stairs
is a stair
where the mice sit.
There isn't any
other stair
quite like
it.
They are not at the bottom,
they not at the top;
so this is the stair
where
the mice always
stop.

I found these on the stairs and am fairly sure that they are not the mice dwalletta is after.
