A Tribute to my Dead Fir Tree

Earlier this summer I had to cut down one of my fir trees due to the harsh winter we had. After it was cut, there were a lot of wood chips around the area. When I went to mow the grass, I found a tribute to the tree....a large crop of these little fellows.

Wonder if they are edible.
