Why?

Why?
Why do the segments of lime in the water jug look larger than the lime from which they come?
Why does the image of Mrs TPV's arm look bigger and why is it round the other way?
And what about the distortion in the jug handle?

Oh I know the scientific reasons, but I also know that sometimes when we look at something in isolation or through a different 'lens' we can either get a better image or a distorted one. So its not a bad idea to ask "Why?" from time to time.
