Front
This is a NorWesterly Front. It is (so The Boss says) formed by the air forming into a wave as it crosses the mountains of The Southern Alps and we do see a lot of this in our little town. It is always spectacular to see but would be very scary if you were in a light plane or glider in which case you might need the paper bag thingie and your seat belt done up. I have been in a plane but it was a big jet that later turned into a smaller one with propellers as I flew to Palmerston North a few years ago to stay with my Mum while The B’s went to America. I was in a crate in the hold and for the last bit of the journey I apparently travelled a lot better than some of the folk that got off the plane an interesting green colour (so my Mum said). Oh, for the purposes of this journal my Mum is my breeder…OK. Tho my Mum was actually there as well as a number of other Wheatens. We got to ride around the block on wet days on the back of a truck. Boy that was fun fun fun.
Oh sorry…Back to the story. This was iPhoned on my walk this afternoon, from a new development at the back of town called “Alpha Ridge” It gives stunning views which in Wanaka also come at no extra charge, with stunning wind and if your house is designed by folk who don’t live here and features ceiling to floor picture windows facing North, Stunning heat in the summer too which is grrreat for the local air conditioning folk who arrive some months later. I am sure all you folk in the UK and eastern USA will be delighted to be reading this so I would add that our usual coldest temperature in winter would be a morning frost of -5C with a wall to wall sunny day to follow.
Oh and on the way back I got to kiss the Bride as a wedding couple was leaving our park as we arrived in. The Boss had a strong hold on my enthusiasm so it was only a virtual kiss from me and I am not permitted to comment on what happened with The B…….
