A bad time to fly
Here's why we haven't flown for almost four days. Those red arrows show the wind speed and you can see the low way out in the Atlantic which is battering the north at the moment. That low is 961 millibars which is REAL low! And of course, at the centre of the low, there's virtually no wind at all...
But right here there's plenty! And it is hammering in. It's about 40 kts outside which is sporting for Shetland, but offshore it's getting up to 85 kts which must be pretty scary as you can feel the platforms move on a reasonable day.
Thank goodness we won't be flying tomorrow... I hope!
