#27 - BlipBigYear 2014

Black Turnstone, Arenaria melanocephala, on the Humboldt Bay south spit jetty. This is a species of sandpiper that inhabits rocky coastlines. They are found in great numbers along both of the bay's jetties this time of year. This one is stretching out her wing during a little preening--I like how this motion always displays the rows of feathers on the wing so nicely.
