Hot wine

Mum and I had a fantastic first day in Prague. After having spent a few days here in summer 2012 (on tour with Warwick Photosoc!), it is a city I really feel at home in, and the city definitely has my heart. As I've kind of got my bearings here already I took great delight in being able to show mum around a bit today.

We first walked from the hotel down to the main centre where we visited a ridiculously ornate church and my beloved John Lennon wall, and then crossed over the beautiful bridge in to the old town. We were feeling pretty chilly when lo and behold appeared a bar serving hot wine- ignoring the fact it was only 11am, we felt it would be rude to resist. So damn good.

The rest of our day was pretty chill- we walked for miles mostly around the little cobbled streets of the old town. We came across a traditional looking restaurant where we stopped in for lunch- we sat in the cellar which had an incredible vaulted ceiling, and we could see the barrels of Pilsner lager ready to be pumped to the taps upstairs. The goulash soup (served in a bread roll) we ate was delicious. And when the beer is cheaper than water in this city, it should seem a shame to not have a pint half litre to accompany the meal.

More wandering around and we stopped for a hot chocolate in the main square, then more wandering and we stopped for another hot wine and ice cream (odd combination right??). We'd also spontaneously booked tickets to see a classical music concert in one of Prague's concert halls this evening- something we wouldn't usually do, but having done it I'm so glad we did!

Time to find another quaint restaurant for dinner (double goulash soup in one day.... When in Rome Prague) before hitting the hay.
