Carpenters marks.

A signature?
A symbol?
Religious?
Of superstition?
Rituals?

I think these marks were made before the beams were put in place. There are several of them, some high and some low.

I am just so curious and I want to know who did them!

Oh, did I mention that they could date from as early as the 1570's?
