At Monmouth: Nothing really matters......

Sitting in a Monmouth Pizza house, the lyrics to Queens 'Bohemian Rhapsody' are stuck on a huge mirror above our heads. The reason is that Queen recorded this track at Rockfield Studios, up the road from here.

Its my birthday, Ella has a huge desert delivered to the table. She is totally preoccupied with the wording of the song. Her eyes settle on the words, "Nothing really matters". I see the irony in the scene or at least I feel it.

All the pressure in her little life with school exams, sats, relationships and her future ahead of her. I think of myself now some 30 years on from her. The pressure and stresses that I have lived through. All I could tell her on my birthday is in those words, "Nothing really matters", because only the things that really matter, matter. x
