Goodbye

Today has not only been a grey day but also a somewhat colder one. The two Wood Pigeons, who have been frequent visitors of my sunflower hearts feeder in the past, had not visited it for quite some time and because the weather has stayed so mild for as long as it has, I'd removed the feeder when the food in it had started to show signs of mould.

Today though the two Wood Pigeons put in an appearance again and I was tempted to put the feeder back up but I changed my mind because we won't be here for much longer. I didn't want them to get used again to being able to find food here and thought it would be better if they started to look for a new source before the weather turns even colder, especially because the people who come to live here after us may not be interested in (feeding) birds.

Both birds sat on the wall next to our kitchen for some time and while I was taking some photos of them through the window, I said goodbye to them because I couldn't help feeling that I may not see them again after today's visit.
