Le pantouflard
One day S was yomping up Canigou in the snow. The next he went out into the square and returned a few minutes later having bought a pair of genuine pantoufles de vieillard (old man's slippers) from the travelling shoe shop. He ignores my mockery and shuffles contentedly around the house in them.
Here he is in front of the fire, participating in Booky's Readers' World. The book is Alan Garner's The Voice that Thunders, which I've just finished -- a fascinating insight into the mind of a very talented writer. It caused me to put two of his novels, Strandloper and The Stone Book Quartet, straight onto my wishlist.
