Duck Flight
A very dull day, this morning - not the clear frosty one which the weather forecast had predicted for the early part of the day. The clouds had come in earlier than they thought, so I needed a high ISO for todays blip.
The marsh on the inside of the path around the river has flooded and has been adopted by increasingly large flocks of mallard. Unfortunately, they are a bit sensitive and as soon as they see someone on the footpath, they up-sticks and head out into the estuary. It does make for good flight shots, although you have to be quick.
This picture shows only a part of the flock - there were probably about fifty birds altogether, and I think there is a mandarin duck flying with the flock - if you check it out in large, the very top one is quite spectacular in its plumage.
I managed to avoid the rain, but after I got home, it really came in and stayed for the rest of the day, so I got a lot of editing of pictures done. It's supposed to be a bit better tomorrow. I'll try and get out on the bike in the morning, and in the afternoon, it's off to the hospital with the Mother-in-law for more injections into her eye.
