The Dorset Shepherd.

This sculpture 'The Dorset Shepherd' was commissioned to mark the year 2000. The sculptor was John Doubleday and it can be found in Dorchester.

The inspiration for it comes from a poem, by Dorset poet William Barnes,
'The Shepherd o' the farm'.

Written in Dorset dialogue .......

An' I do bide all day among
The bleaten sheep, an' pitch their vwold
An' when the evenen sheades be long
Do zee all a-penn'd an' twold.

...........................

Had a coffee and a Danish pastry before buying two pairs of shoes (which I didn't really need, but they were sale price!!). Had Hubby with me to carry the bags!
